Over 200 area teens registered in less than 24 hours for series of 3 free self-defense classes that began this past Friday.

The event was hosted by Velocity Sports Performance in 4S Ranch whose mission is to help athletes become faster, stronger and more confident.

Physical Self-defense techniques were demonstrated by United Studios of Self Defense.

Prevention and awareness strategies were presented by Sealed Mindset.

The next free classes are scheduled:

3/21/2010 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
4/10/2010 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

As a community based business that trains over 300 San Diego high school athletes in its Carlsbad and Rancho Bernardo facilities, Velocity is owned and operated by Charles and Erin Dimry who themselves have 5 children, 4 of whom are daughters. Recent events have led the Dimrys to question the information they have given their own daughters and numerous conversations with parents at each of their facilities have demonstrated they aren’t alone in this concern. The purpose of the self defense classes is to serve Velocity’s mission in a very real way by helping teens become stronger, faster and more confident in their ability to defend themselves.
