Five teams of Willow Grove Elementary School students earned an Honorable Mention award from the annual ExploraVision contest, a national science and engineering competition. This largest program of its kind is sponsored by Toshiba and the National Science and Teachers Association and is open to all K-12 grade students in North America. To earn this distinction of exceptional merit, students had to be one of the top 10% of all projects submitted in their grade level. The students were responsible for identifying a problem and improving or inventing a technology to solve it. With names like “The Dyslexic Cure,” “Shoe for the Blind,” “Food Analyzer 6000,” “The Carbon Dioxide Remover” and “The Automatic Cooling Dishes,” it is obvious these young scientists were thinking well beyond the four walls of their classroom to make a difference in a world that soon will be theirs to control.
