Lemonade for Literacy
This past May, local girls Chloe Bertrand, Jacqueline Howorka, Hayley Koumjian, and McKenna, Cassie, and Reese Dugdale, opened for business with a Sweet & Sassy Lemonade Girls Lemonade Stand, as part of National Lemonade Day to teach youth about financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
“The girls are very excited,” shared Heather Dugdale. “They surpassed their goals and sold 130 glasses of lemonade, raising $390. After paying their expenses they had approximately $170 to donate to United Through Reading (UTR). But more exciting is that during the day they also received several donations to UTR and presented UTR with over $400 in donations.” Heather also wanted to extend thanks to Jimbo’s Naturally for their donation of space for the stand, lemons and sugar.
