Neighborhood Girl Scouts are wrapping up the cookie season and gearing up to invest their earnings. Troops earn funds for activities and community projects, while the council’s proceeds finance events, volunteer training, facilities, and financial aid for more than 42,000 local girl and adult members.

This year’s cookie entrepreneurs included 4S Ranch resident Payton, who joined other Girl Scouts and San Diego City Council President Sherri Lightner for a Cookie College event, where Lightner purchased the first box of Girl Scout cookies. By participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls like Payton develop leadership skills while learning about goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.
