The Dolans Found Home Again in Their Native San Diego
Nurturing Their Roots
At 10 years of age, Daniel Dolan keeps his own blog. He’s like his dad and loves computers. His younger brothers, Colin and Gavin, have distinct personalities as fraternal twins: Gavin is shy and loves drawing, while Colin is more extroverted. Colin’s nickname is “Peanut” even though Gavin is allergic to peanuts. “Colin also loves to dance and has been known to take over the entire dance floor at weddings,” shared Karina Dolan.
The Dolans moved from the Talmadge area in 2006 to Patina, one of the oldest communities in 4S Ranch. “We’re both native San Diegans and wanted to stay close to extended family,” mentioned Karina. “We found 4S Ranch the perfect place to raise our family.”
Brian Dolan attended West Hills High School in East County. Karina grew up in Tierrasanta and attended University of San Diego High School (now Cathedral High). They met at Grossmont College and have been together for 20 years. Karina is a Registered Nurse at UCSD Women’s Health Services part-time and volunteers in the boys’ classrooms at Stone Ranch Elementary. Brian has a B.S. in Information Systems and owns Trusted Solutions Group, an IT consulting firm specializing in computer security. “With three active boys, our lives are centered around extracurricular activities,” added Karina. Parents included – Brian volunteers on the school’s foundation board and is the president of 4S Ranch Little League’s board for the last two years.
Brian’s work involves some travel, which Karina enjoys when she gets to accompany him. Life at home is all about flexibility, curiosity, and supporting one another’s pursuits and shared dreams. Daniel swims and is an avid reader. He’s involved in the school’s student council and Trailblazer television. Gavin and Colin both love sports and play baseball, soccer and basketball. Brian likes to cook and play golf, and Karina dives into arts and crafts when time allows.
When the boys grow up, each one has an idea of their aspiring career paths. Daniel wants to be a computer programmer. Colin dreams of playing professional baseball. And while Gavin is also allergic to dogs and cats, his heart is set on becoming a veterinarian. While each son advances through elementary school, the Dolans look forward to more years together with diverse and shared interests. These are lively times, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
