Local Students Win 3rd Place in World Championship Robotics Competition
A team of local students, including Alex and Anna Azeka from Maranatha Christian Schools, won third place in the World Championship Robotics Competition through FIRST Tech Challenge. Alex and Anna joined students from several other San Diego schools to form the cleverly named RoBowties team. The team worked together throughout the school year on all aspects of the competition, including robot design and fabrication, works outreach, public education, field coaching, programming, and CAD design for 3D printing. After advancing through local and regional competitions in San Diego and Oakland, the RoBowties secured a multitude of awards, including an “Inspire” award – considered to be the most prestigious award given – along with a booth design award and a finalist award for securing third place overall among 128 teams.
