Poway Unified School District (PUSD) staff recently participated in Operation Dress Code. This event was originally based in Sacramento, but has been held in San Diego for the past three years. Operation Dress Code helps women make the transition from military to civilian life, with the specific goal of helping them get ready for the civilian workforce. The event includes free shopping through donated clothing and accessories, along with resume reviews, interview tips, professional hair and makeup, and headshots.

PUSD staff collected clothing donations at the Career Technical Adult and Alternative Education (CTAAE) programs office. “I help people understand the current job market, explore careers, and build high-quality career portfolios. The clothing donation just felt like an extension of what we already do to help our community,” said Career Education Specialist Denise McAndrews.

Operation Dress Code was brought to San Diego in partnership with Courage to Call, a local organization that provides a free, confidential, veteran-staffed helpline. Learn more at www.thedresscodeca.com and www.courage2call.org.
