Inspired Movement and Dance Focuses on Discovering a Dancer’s Full Potential

In 2010, Jenna Saylor began offering dance classes at a local community center. The lifelong dancer and former preschool teacher soon had a following of students that outgrew the space, so she opened her own studio in 2012: Inspired Movement Dance and Performing Arts. Today, Jenna’s new studio location in Rancho Santa Fe is equipped to serve students with even more dance offerings.

Inspired Movement Dance sets itself apart from other studios through its focus on high-quality training in a healthy environment. Classes are offered to those seeking to be professional as well as recreational dancers. “It’s competitive, but not about winning,” Jenna stated. “It’s about unlocking each dancer’s potential and staying focused on the journey and the process.” From the very beginning, Jenna has been instilling confidence in all her students and helping to develop their talents and unveil their full potential.

A number of dance genres are taught at the studio, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, acro, and musical theater. The Academy Program starts for young dancers at the age of two all the way through teens. As part of the Academy Program, students can participate in the Performance Company, dancing at local competitions and performing at community events.

The two newest programs are the Conservatory programs. The Inspired Movement Ballet Conservatory trains students in the highest standards of classical ballet. “The program is aimed at preparing the dancer for a professional ballet career focusing on the student’s individual goals,” Jenna said. The Inspired Movement Company Conservatory is designed to inspire students through a more diverse program. Jenna explained, “This program will equip students with the technical training and performance experience that optimally prepares dancers for future professional careers in dance, or acceptance in college bound programs.”

“It’s about unlocking each dancer’s potential and staying focused on the journey and the process.”

The dance students perform at local nursing homes during the holidays as well as community events. The Nutcracker Ballet in December and end-of-year recitals are highlights to look forward to. With her focus on both a positive environment and excellence, Jenna shared, “Our students are pushed and challenged in class in a nurturing and fun atmosphere. Our students are not only taught to be great dancers, but great people.”
