Celebrating 10 Years of Community Contributions
Friends of the Library
Friends of the 4S Ranch Library celebrated their 10th anniversary with an essay contest and community meet and greet. The November contest asked youth library members to answer the question, “What about the library makes you thankful?” Out of 40 entries, 17 winners were selected, with prizes donated by Geppetto’s Toys.
The meet and greet in mid-December included longtime and new Friends volunteers, library staff, library patrons, and representatives from the 4S Ranch Master Association – which is partnering with San Diego County Library to promote a potential expansion for the 4S Ranch Library. Doughnuts were donated by Donut Touch in 4S Ranch.
The celebration included gratitude for two longstanding board members, Nancy Jones and Lynda Moses, who are relocating soon. “We are so thankful for all the library programs we have been able to sponsor because of their commitment to the Friends of the 4S Ranch Library taking care of book sales, membership, finance, secretary duties, newsletter, and more,” said Publicity Chair Abigail Velazquez. “We wish them well, they will we dearly missed.”
Abigail added that two founding members, Mary Karscig and Michael Farrell, are still active in the organization. “Their passion for serving the community is admirable and inspirational.”
The Friends are always open to new members and volunteers. Annual membership is $15 per family, which helps support the 4S Ranch Library’s events and programs for all ages. Learn more at www.4sranchfol.org.
