45 Years of Singing Together

The RB Chorale’s annual summer show returns Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 at Poway Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s theme is “The RB Chorale: A Celebration of 45 Years,” and will include some of the chorale’s most popular numbers since its founding in 1974. It’s also a special recognition of Pat Bean, founder and director, whose creativity and dedication have grown the chorale from 16 to 150 members over the years.

In addition to making music, the chorale gives back to the community and provides a platform for young artists. The chorale awards scholarships every year to San Diego high school seniors who are planning to continue their musical education through college. This year’s six scholarship finalists will perform at the summer show, and audience votes will determine who wins first, second, and third place prizes each night. Last year, more than $17,000 was awarded to student musicians, and ticket proceeds for this year’s event will help the organization match or exceed that amount for the 2019 scholarships.

General admission is $25, with $22 discounts for seniors, students, and military members. Children’s admission is $17. Preferred seating is available for $35.

The RB Chorale recruits every spring and fall in preparation for its big summer and winter shows. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at Painted Rock Elementary School. Learn more and find tickets at www.rbchorale.org.
