Del Norte Theater Arts

Del Norte theater arts never fail to disappoint. For years now, the theater department has been pleasing audiences with their productions throughout the year, typically consisting of a play, a musical, and a one-act festival. This year, Del Norte performed Twelve Angry Jurors in the fall, My Fair Lady (musical) in winter, and recently, their sixth annual spring One-Act Festival, in which all students, regardless of theater background, were encouraged to audition. The One-Act Festival is a student-directed production with multiple plays each under an hour in length. This year’s production consisted of play genres ranging from mysteries to fairy tales. The production, along with the other two productions this year, has been a wonderful success, reaping in well-deserved praise for the department.

There are many reasons for students to join theater, one of which being the opportunity to make new friends. The theater department sees itself as a large family welcoming to all. In addition, Mrs. DeYoung, who is the head of the drama department, is well-liked by her students for her hospitality and kindness. She always encourages students to join Del Norte theater. Lastly, it is a great opportunity to be part of a large project with a lot of great people. As junior Natalie Jimenez put it, “It’s really cool to be a part of something bigger than just yourself!”
