Going Above and Beyond
Both Pets and Their Humans Receive Progressive and Innovative Service at Santaluz Animal Care
On May 18, Santaluz Animal Care (SAC) held its grand opening, beginning a veterinary practice that owner, Dr. Laura (Greenlee) Johnson, calls “progressive and innovative.” SAC is focused on creating a high-quality client service experience, along with transparency and client involvement in the veterinary care of their pets. Clients and their pets will notice the Fear Free difference the moment they step through our doors. “At SAC, there is no front desk. Instead, clients and pets enter the Welcome Area, where they are greeted by certified veterinary assistants who guide them into an exam room right away, and remain with them throughout their entire visit. They are given undivided and individual attention,” said Dr. Johnson. Clients are also welcome to be present for most of the treatments performed on their pets.
SAC provides general practice veterinary medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery (including spays, neuters, mass removals and other basic procedures). Orthopedic and specialty surgeries can be scheduled at SAC with a mobile board-certified surgeon. The practice specializes in the care of dogs, cats, and some exotics including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, and reptiles. SAC treats sick pets and handles veterinary emergencies, as well as focusing on preventative medicine and wellness visits. The clinic also offers professional grooming and a variety of prescription dietary options. Pet medications and veterinary diets are available both onsite and through home-delivery from their competitively priced online pharmacy.
In addition to these traditional services, SAC also offers Complementary Therapies (Alternative Medicine), including acupuncture, Chinese veterinary medicine, cold laser therapy, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Johnson and her highly trained staff also use non-invasive diagnostic tools that are progressive and unique, such as digital thermal imaging, stance analysis, abdominal ultrasound, and digital radiography, as well as digital dental radiography. “The breadth of our offerings, as well as the Fear Free approach to our patients and true quality customer service, is what sets us apart and goes above and beyond the standard veterinary practice experience,” explained Dr. Johnson. They even boast a cat only exam room, which was designed to make kitty vet visits as comfortable as possible.
Dr. Johnson grew up in San Diego and is proud to be serving the local community through SAC. The practice is located in the southern-most end of the Piazza Santaluz buildings and is just under 2,000 square feet in size. She put a great deal of thought into the design and layout of the office. “All exam rooms have natural lighting and sliding barn doors with glass centers so the rooms feel open and inviting, instead of clinical and claustrophobic,” stated Dr. Johnson.
