Oak Valley Middle School began the 2019-2020 school year with a new principal. Mr. Colin Young was appointed over the summer, officially beginning his role on July 1. Mr. Young joined Poway Unified School District as a social science teacher at Poway High School, then became an assistant principal at Mt. Carmel High School. He most recently served as an assistant principal at Poway High School. His service-minded leadership has lead to improved student culture and outcomes at the schools where he served, and he was named the 2019 Secondary Co-Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators.

“My focus will be to make quality, lasting, and trusting relationships with all stakeholders, inspire staff to strive for continual personal growth, ensure that all students have a safe learning environment conducive to personal development and educational mastery, communicate regularly with all staff members, and most importantly, carry out the vision all stakeholders have for Oak Valley Middle School,” Mr. Young said in a message to Oak Valley families.
