92127’s Maranatha Christian Schools (MCS) celebrated the first home football game of the season against La Jolla Country Day with a long-awaited new turf field. It’s been over a year since MCS student athletes have played a home football game on their own fields. The opening ceremonies included Maranatha Chapel Pastor Ray Bentley, Superintendent Jess Hetherington, MCS Athletic Director Steve Whitley, California Senator Brian Jones, the MCS School Board, and representatives from Hellas Construction, who installed the new field. MCS is the first sports complex in San Diego to use the company’s GEO Plus Infill.

The new sports complex includes bleacher seating for 1,000 people on the football field, which is also designed for soccer. The baseball field and combination soccer and softball fields will soon be completed as well.

“The completion of this multi-use field project is a game-changer for the Athletic Program,” said Whitley. “Not only that, but these fields will make a tremendous impact to the 4S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, and Rancho Santa Fe communities.”
