Community Driven

Dr. Lindsay Pfeffer Takes i-Ortho to New Heights of Patient Focus and Philanthropy

Dr. Lindsay Pfeffer, MBE, MS, is the owner of i-Orthodontics in Del Sur. She and the entire clinic take pride in a patient-driven approach, where patients get to choose what they want, how they want it, and i-Ortho caters to their desires. Providing braces, Invisalign, Phase 1 (treatment to prevent extraction, surgery, or more invasive treatments when patients are older), and Phase 2 (non-extraction techniques), they focus on the face and airway, and can change a child’s trajectory just through an upfront approach – laying out all the possibilities. “We want you to feel like family and be informed. Our job is to teach you what you need to know so that you can understand your options and feel confident in your decisions,” said Dr. Pfeffer.

The exceptionalism of i-Ortho can be easily attributed to Dr. Pfeffer’s unique story. Her biology degree took her from scientific research for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to oncology fighting numerous types of cancer. When her father, a well-known dentist in her home town, died, Dr. Pfeffer began helping the dental practice. “It was here,” she said, “seeing patients crying over their love for my father, I decided I wanted to be a dentist.” She attended Penn School of Dental Medicine – an Ivy League institution – while also completing a Master’s in Biomedical Ethics at medical school.

“We focus on community and that means giving back to our patients, our schools, and those in need,” shared Dr. Pfeffer. “We’re not just a doctor’s office; we are changing lives outside of our clinic walls every day.” Her commitment to her patients’ overall health is reflected in i-Ortho’s involvement with the area. They provide resources to 22 schools as well as multiple organizations, including the San Dieguito, Greater San Diego, and 4S Ranch Boys and Girls Clubs. Her office not only donates their time to over 150 organizations in her community, but also financially, last year donating over $110,000 throughout the county – an unprecedented number for a healthcare office, let alone a small business and sole practitioner. Dr. Pfeffer is also faculty at University of California, San Diego Medical School, where she operates the free clinic providing care for the less fortunate.

i-Ortho is a business built on honesty, trust, and love for the patients, the community, and those who need it most. Dr. Pfeffer concluded, “We are creating smiles from the inside out. My job is to give people the smile they deserve and then give that same love, understanding, and attention to those who need it most and otherwise wouldn’t get it. If not us, who will?”
