Maranatha Christian Schools Has Multiple Camps in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts to Choose from for all ages
With growing numbers of exciting and entertaining camps to choose from, Maranatha Christian Schools’ Summer Programs are almost here! The construction of a new state-of-the-art Sports Complex is now complete, and some programs – Speed & Agility and Summer Games, for example – will utilize the new field. “In addition to the sport camps, we will have academic, cooking, art, and many more classes available for a well-rounded summer camp experience,” explained Director of Summer Enrichment Julie Elliott. “More importantly, our summer camps are open to the community.” Ages can range from kindergarten through 12th grade depending on the camp you participate in.
Sport camps are taught by Maranatha’s very own varsity coaches. These coaches have led teams to multiple CIF Titles in several sports. Maranatha’s volleyball coach was named the 2017 Small Schools Coach of the Year and led the girls volleyball team to their first CIF State Title Championship. Most of the coaches have played a sport in college or at a professional level. Sport camps include Basketball Skills, Volleyball Skills, Mini Cheer, Strength & Conditioning/Speed & Agility, Sport, and Summer Games.
Academic camps include English, S.T.E.A.M., and Math. Creative offerings include Cooking, Art, and Youth Summer Theatre Camp. The theatre campers will present two live performances of Bye Bye Birdie on the last weekend of the camp. Staff in non-athletic camps have credentials and experience in the field and with youth so they know how to make the camp fun and structured. Summer camps vary with multiple sessions and lengths of time. “Most are three-week sessions,” Elliott said, “and if you sign up for both, the length of the camp could be six weeks for those looking for a long-term camp this summer.” Registration starts March 1 with some camps offering an early-bird special. Camps are offered from June 15 to July 31 and fill up fast. Be sure to register early online and to obtain the dates for your desired camps.
For ages three to six, the preschool division offers three one-week sessions that focus on Summer Olympics, Space, and S.T.E.A.M. Your child can take one week or all three in the summer school program that runs from June 8 to June 26.
Maranatha stays active in the community with local events such as movie nights, Poway Days Parade, and RB Alive. Students can also volunteer in the community and receive credit hours toward their graduation. Maranatha’s goal is to be active and of service to the local community. The completion of the Sports Complex gives an opportunity to provide a venue for local soccer clubs.
Maranatha Christian Schools is excited for the upcoming year. Student enrollment continues to grow, thanks to Maranatha’s focus on academics, athletics, and performing arts. The school is constantly looking towards the future, with plans to build more state-of-the-art structures like the high school building.
As one parent said, “My daughter has been attending this summer school program and has thoroughly enjoyed it. She has made a lot of friends and finds the teachers to be fun and engaging, as well as easy to learn from. She will be starting regular school next year and we have very high hopes.”
Maranatha summer camps emphasize fun energy and positive outcomes for anyone looking for their ultimate camp experience in 2020!
